Alopecia Help and Advice (Scotland) is a locally based charity which helps people
suffering from Alopecia Areata. It was originally set up by the mothers of two girls
with Alopecia Areata who live in Grangemouth and Edinburgh.
The charity is advised
by a consultant dermatologist at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh who has an interest
in Alopecia Areata.
Although we offer support and help to people with Alopecia Areata,
we cannot diagnose the condition. If you suspect you have Alopecia Areata, you should
make an appointment with your GP, who may then refer you to a skin specialist.
We
have local support groups for Alopecia Areata sufferers that meet in Glasgow and
Edinburgh.
We are proud of our successful campaign to get the rules on the prescribing of wigs
on the NHS in Scotland changed.
Our longer term aim is to be in a position to fund
the much needed medical research into the causes of Alopecia Areata and to assist
in the research and development of possible treatments
Alopecia Help and Advice (Scotland) Limited is a company limited by guarantee.
